DIY Haunted House

I’m not gonna lie, I am still holding on to all the joys of summertime, but knowing October is soon approaching has me so excited for Spooky Season!
My oldest son, Amare is also a Halloween fanatic (must be an October baby thing lol) and he is always on board for all things Halloween…. so this year we decided we are going to do a DIY Halloween Village.

The first thing we created for our Halloween village are these Haunted houses. See below for supplies and steps 🙂

Supplies :
– mini doll houses (we used 3)
– wooden signs x 3 (we used these as base plates)
– bones
– pumpkins
– Spanish moss
– white and gold acrylic paint
* all of these items are from Dollar Tree or Dollarama
– black spray paint

Steps :

I hot glued the mini doll house onto the wooden sign as a base plate.

Then I used Rust-oleum spray paint in Flat Black. I did two coats to make sure the bright pink of the roof didn’t show through.

Next, I mixed the white and gold acrylic paints together and used a feathering brush technique to give the houses a weathered look.

Final step is to decorate as you wish. We used these mini décor bones and pumpkins and arranged them differently for each house. Then hot glue the Spanish moss around the base plate and to fill in any gaps.

We both are so happy with how these turned out!
